The boxing is aimed at machines in Russian service, which is a less usual subject for this type than the ordinary British finish. The number of parts, the contents of the decal sheet and whether resin or photo-etched extras are included are given by the contents printed on the packaging.
The Sopwith Triplane was a British single-seat fighter from the period of the First World War, which differed from its contemporaries in having three lifting surfaces one above the other. The arrangement gave the machine an excellent rate of climb and agility while keeping a good view from the cockpit, because the individual wings could have a smaller chord. The aircraft became famous with naval squadrons on the Western Front and its success set off a whole wave of triplanes from other manufacturers. It was built for a fairly short time before newer types replaced it.
With a triplane the geometry decides everything. Before you start gluing, dry-fit the wings and prepare a simple spacer or jig to hold the correct gap and angles for you until the glue has dried. Clean up the struts carefully, they are thin. Paint and finish the cockpit and the engine before you close the fuselage. Pick out the fabric-covered areas with a gentle suggestion of the ribs, not with hard lines. Add the rigging from stretched sprue or fine thread only after the decals have gone on and the model has been clear coated, otherwise you will pull it off during the further work. Keep the weathering restrained; machines of this period look better clean.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
