A photo-etched set for a model of the high-altitude Spitfire F.Mk.VII fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire F.Mk.VII is the high-altitude version of the British fighter. It can be told from the ordinary variants by the pressurized cockpit, which let the pilot work at heights where he would otherwise have needed nothing but an oxygen mask, and by the extended, pointed wingtips that improved the handling in thin air. Only a limited number were built, so it is a version seen in a display case less often than the widespread Spitfire variants.
The photo-etched parts are made from thin sheet metal and replace places that in plastic are necessarily thicker than they should be. That shows up most where the material is meant to read as thin sheet or as a grille, and in the cockpit, which the viewer of a model has right in front of him. The set is etched for a particular kit; what exactly it holds and where each part goes are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Degrease the parts and spray on a primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth metal and will peel off during handling.
For modelers who want to push the detail of a small scale further than plastic allows and do not mind working with tweezers. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
