Easy Model collector models arrive finished: assembled, painted and with the markings applied. This item is a British Spitfire Mk.V in the service of the American 2nd Fighter Squadron in 1943. The model is not glued or painted and no decals are applied to it; it is a finished product intended for display.
The American fighter units that operated in Europe and in the Mediterranean in 1942 and 1943 were at first equipped with British aircraft, because their own machines were not available in the numbers needed. The Spitfire Mk.V therefore carried American national insignia for quite a long time, and in the standards of these units a number of unmistakable combinations of a British airframe and American markings came about. The Mk.V itself was the most numerously built version of the Spitfire: a liquid-cooled V12 engine, the elliptical wing and the slender fuselage gave it a silhouette that cannot be confused with any other fighter of the period.
What makes this item interesting is the combination: a British machine with American markings. In a display case it therefore works well as a pair with a classic British Spitfire, where the difference in markings and in shades is apparent at first glance. Since the model is finished, the result does not depend on modeling skill and is comparable from one example to another. For long-term keeping the basic rules apply: a glazed display case, no direct sun, dust removed dry with a soft brush and handling by the fuselage.
The model is supplied finished: assembled and painted. Glue, paints and accessories are not needed.
