A separate resin casting of a boarding ladder for a model of the Su-35 in 1:72 scale. It belongs among the accessories for aircraft models; the aircraft itself is not part of the contents of the package. It is the simplest way of completing a model with equipment that is never missing from a machine on a stand.
The heavy fighters of the Su family have the cabin high above the ground, so a ladder is brought up to the side of the forward part of the fuselage, by which the pilot boards. The Su-35 is a deeply modernized stage of development of the Su-27 — a multirole twin-engined fighter aircraft with markedly reworked avionics and power system. On a model the ladder works as an anchor of scale: from it a viewer estimates the real size of the aircraft at once and the scene looks more alive than the model on a base on its own.
First wash the casting in warm soapy water because of the remnants of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw and sand the surface wet and with your airways protected. It is glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold. Apply a filler primer before painting. Ladders tend to be knocked about in practice, so after the base shade it pays to go over the edges with a dry brush and to add a fine wash into the corners of the structure. Before you stick the ladder to the model, try the seating dry — the angle at which it rests against the fuselage decides whether the scene looks natural.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
