A die-cut self-adhesive masking set from the Czech maker Eduard. It is neither a kit nor a model, but an accessory for modelers in 1:72 scale which sharpens and speeds up the masking of the cockpit glazing and the wheels while the paints are sprayed. The precisely shaped masks are made of fine Japanese kabuki tape.
The masks are stuck onto the frames of the canopy and onto the wheel discs, so that after spraying the glass stays clear and the tires free of paint. Kabuki tape adapts to rounded shapes, holds tightly and leaves no adhesive when lifted off. The result is crisp, straight lines on the canopy frames without laboriously cutting tape by hand.
The Short Sunderland was a British four-engined flying boat intended for maritime patrol and the fight against submarines. With its great range it served with the Coastal Command of the Royal Air Force above all over the Atlantic, where it protected convoys. Thanks to its heavy defensive armament it earned a nickname referring to a porcupine, and it ranked among the mainstays of the Allied anti-submarine defense.
The set contains die-cut masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
