An injection-molded plastic kit of the carrier torpedo bomber Avenger in 1:72 scale from Hobby 2000. This boxing covers the American TBM-3E version as well as the aircraft designated in the British Fleet Air Arm as the A.S. Mk. IV. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the number of schemes are stated on the box and in the enclosed instructions.
The Avenger was a carrier torpedo and bombing aircraft with a crew of three, a radial engine, an internal bomb bay and a dorsal gun turret. Thanks to its large fuselage and rugged construction it could carry a torpedo as well as a series of bombs and became the standard machine of its kind with carrier formations. The TBM-3E version was created toward the end of the war as a lightened form with modified equipment and with radar carried in a pod under the wing. After the war Avengers went on serving in a number of countries; the aircraft handed over to the British Fleet Air Arm in the 1950s received their own British designation, which is given in the name of this boxing as well.
The interior of the Avenger is clearly visible, so finish and paint the cockpit, the gunner's position and the bomb bay before closing the fuselage. The glazing is broken up, so masking tape or ready-made masks are worth the effort; the large area of the canopy forgives little. If you are going to build the model with the wings folded, check in advance whether the parts allow it. Apply gloss varnish before the decals, unify the surface with a matte varnish once they have dried and only then add wear, on carrier aircraft above all the traces of taxiing on deck and the worn paint around the boarding points.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
