Eduard 1:72 Tu-128M is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the cockpit glazing of a model of the heavy Tu-128M interceptor. It is not a kit but an aid for painting.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Tu-128M long-range interceptor in 1:72 scale. They are cut from thin kabuki-type masking tape, which readily follows the curve of the canopy and leaves no adhesive on the clear part when lifted. The set holds masks only; the model itself, paints and glue are not in the package.
The Tu-128 was a Soviet twin-engine interceptor intended to patrol the vast northern regions, where the network of ground radars was sparse. It was among the largest fighters of its day: it had a crew of two in tandem, a powerful radar in the nose and guided missiles on underwing pylons. The M designation belongs to the upgraded version with improved equipment. The large fuselage and the two-seat cockpit mean a fairly big area of glazing for the modeler, which has to be covered precisely before painting.
Degrease the glazing first. Lift the masks with tweezers or a sharp point and, once applied, press them down with a cotton swab so that they sit down even in the corners. Spray in several thin coats; one heavy coat runs under the edge of the mask. The frames are usually sprayed with the interior color first and only then with the exterior shade. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried, while it is not yet fully cured.
The set holds masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
