The RAF motorcycle driver of the Second World War, part 2, in 1:72 scale is a resin figure from the Aerobonus brand for an airfield diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin figure represents a motorcycle rider of the Royal Air Force (RAF) ground crew. It is the second figure in the range of motorcycle drivers, a stand-alone accessory to enliven a diorama or a vignette, not a model of a motorcycle. The figure is a fitting addition to a scene of the airfield background.
Motorcycles were standard equipment at RAF airfields during the Second World War. Dispatch riders carried orders and reports between the posts, and the personnel used them to move quickly around the extensive bases. The riders wore blue-gray uniforms, leather or canvas coats and helmets; a figure like this gives an aviation scene movement and a story.
Wash the casting to remove mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the joints with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A primer works well, along with shading the folds of the uniform in darker tones and lightening the edges; the face and hands come into their own with the layering of flesh shades. In 1:72 scale work with fine brushes and thin coats.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the motorcycle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
