This is a diorama accessory, not a model. The set holds small resin castings of books and volumes that suit figure bases and scenes with a dark fantasy atmosphere: dungeons, libraries, witches' workrooms, altars, piles of loot. The accessory can be used in several scales, because a book is a rewarding element that takes a wider spread of sizes and looks like a slim volume in one scale and a massive folio in another. The number of pieces in the package and the dimensions of the individual castings are given on the box of the set.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with a detergent. That removes any mold release agent, on which neither a primer nor paint would hold properly. Cut casting remains and flash away with a sharp scalpel or sand them off; sanding dry is not advisable, as resin dust is better bound with water, and protect your breathing. They are glued with super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, so that the relief stays legible. The books themselves come to life from contrast: a richer shade for the covers, a lighter edge for the pages, a dark wash in the recesses and a gentle dry brush on the edges of the covers and the corners.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, bases and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
