A decal sheet in 1:87 scale for a model of the American C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The C-47 Skytrain was a military transport aircraft derived from the civil twin-engine Douglas DC-3. It was powered by two piston radial engines and was renowned for its reliability and its ability to operate from improvised strips. It carried cargo and troops, dropped paratroopers and towed gliders; in the airborne operations of the Second World War it was one of the most important Allied aircraft, and a good number of airframes went on flying long after the war.
This is a decal sheet for 1:87 scale. That scale corresponds to HO in railroad modeling, so an aircraft in this ratio also suits a layout or a smaller diorama with ground equipment and figures. In a scale this small the markings cannot be sprayed through stencils, so a decal is the only sensible way to get legible insignia onto the model. The extent of the markings is given in the instructions supplied with the sheet.
First check in the instructions whether this is a self-adhesive version: a self-adhesive film that has been soaked is ruined, whereas a waterslide decal that has not been soaked can still be soaked later. With the usual waterslide version, finish the surface to a gloss, cut the motif out and soak it in lukewarm water. After a moment slide it off the backing paper onto the moistened spot, settle it with tweezers, blot the water away with a soft cloth and let it dry. Small insignia in this scale will only take careful handling, so work in good light.
The decal sheet is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and varnishes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
