Turf Weeds (Shaker)

Turf scatter, a weeds shade, a jar with a sieve

Turf is a small dyed foam granulate that is poured onto an area coated with glue and creates low vegetation, moss, tufts of grass and overgrown corners. The weeds shade is more subdued than saturated spring green, so it serves well on the edges of roads, abandoned areas, the footings of buildings and everywhere the growth is to look untended. The jar with a sieve makes it possible to pour straight from the package, to dose a small quantity and to store the material conveniently.

Use

• Paint the area an earth shade, so that the base showing through does not spoil the impression.
• Apply PVA glue and pour the scatter straight from the jar through the sieve.
• Once dry, tap the excess back into the jar and use it again.
• Layer several shades, so that the area does not look like a uniform carpet.

Tips for a faithful result

Working in layers gives the best results: first a finer earth-toned base, then irregular islands of growth and finally accents of coarser material or of static grass. In nature weeds hold on by obstacles, that is, along fences, walls, curbs and rails. Fix the finished area with thinned glue applied with a dropper and let it dry freely.
