The In and Out epithet in the name sets this set apart from the basic version of the same subject and refers to masking from the inner and the outer face. The A6M5 was the most numerously built version of the Mitsubishi A6M Reisen carrier-based fighter. Its marks of recognition are the shortened wingtips with a rounded outline and the individual exhaust stacks along the sides of the fuselage. The long multi-part canopy was carried over from the older versions, and in 1:32 scale it makes the most demanding place in the whole build, because the frames cannot be convincingly outlined with a brush.
Masking reaches into the gloss clear and decal stage as well, which has to be allowed for in advance. Finish the camouflage spraying including the frames first, take the masks off and only then lay on the gloss clear under the decals. The reverse order, that is sticking a mask onto fresh gloss clear, often ends with the clear and the paint being torn away, because gloss coats tend to be softer and take longer to mature. Do not stick a mask onto finished decals at all; even a gentle adhesive layer can lift or damage them. If you need to mask after the decals, let the protective clear coat settle first and use a mask of lower tack, peeling it off the back of your hand beforehand.
