This car kit from the Japanese maker Aoshima captures the luxury Toyota Celsior sedan with the body designation UCF31 in the version for the 2003 model year, with the look from the tuner K-Break added. The 1:24 scale is the most widespread for road cars, so the model fits in well among other car kits in a collection. Aoshima makes more than one form of the same car, differing in tuner and in year, so go by the exact body designation, the name of the studio and the year stated in the name when choosing.
The Celsior was Toyota's flagship on the home Japanese market and answered technically to the luxury sedan the marque exported under its premium division. The generation designated UCF3x was built from the turn of the millennium and combined a calm, soberly drawn body shape with a powerful V8 and rear-wheel drive. It was precisely the large, quietly running sedan that became the basis in Japan of a tuning scene of its own known as VIP style, which works with lowered ride height, wide wheels and a subtly embellished body. The studio K-Break is among the well-known names in that direction.
On a car with a smooth body the result is decided chiefly by the preparation of the surface. Sand the parting lines and the ejector pin marks carefully and polish them, then apply a filler primer. Spray the paint with an airbrush in several thin coats and let it cure properly, and only then apply the gloss clear coat. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and settle them with softener, so that they sit down into the pressed detail. Finish the interior and the underside before you put the body on, because they are out of reach afterwards.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
