This is a set of waterslide decals with fire designs. It is neither a kit nor a paint but an accessory with which a finished and painted model is marked. The decals are used mainly on figures, wargaming models, shields, cloak surfaces and features of dioramas, where painting flames by hand would be slow or hard to repeat.
The procedure is the same as with ordinary modeling decals. Cut the design out as close to the edge of the printing as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the backing paper starts to slide freely. Move the design to its place, straighten it with a brush and draw the excess water off with a paper towel. The key thing is a gloss base: on a matte surface air is trapped under the decal and what is called silvering comes about, that is a light edge around the printing.
Varnish the area under the decal with a gloss varnish and let it cure properly. On shaped surfaces, such as helmets, pauldrons or rounded shields, use a decal softener. It is applied to a design already laid down and left to act without touching it, until the decal sits into the relief. Once dry, varnish the surface with a matte or satin varnish, which sinks the edges of the printing into the paint and unifies the sheen of the whole model. Work in dry and dust-free conditions, as a damp decal easily picks up dirt.
The decals are an accessory, not a kit. Paints, varnishes and a softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
