The box designation refers to one particular privately operated aircraft of this type, and the extent of the decal sheet and of the color scheme offered is stated by the maker of the kit. The 1:144 scale is kept to with airliners for the sensible size of the finished model and for easy combination with airport equipment and figures.
The Boeing 757 is a narrow-body twin-engine airliner with the engines hung on pylons under the wing. The 757-200 version is the basic and most widespread guise with the shorter fuselage, which the stretched 757-300 version followed on from. The type is marked by a high thrust-to-weight ratio, thanks to which it manages short and high-altitude runways and a rapid climb. It flew in the colors of large scheduled carriers, with freight operators and as a corporate and private aircraft.
With airliners the surface decides the result. Fill the lengthwise fuselage seams carefully and sand them through several grits; with a long slender fuselage every unevenness shows on the smooth area. With models of airliners it is usually necessary to add weight in the nose, otherwise the model will sit down on its tail. Lay the base coat in one color over the whole model, as it will reveal any remaining scratches. Spray a glossy civil color scheme with an airbrush in thin layers and let it cure properly. Lay the decals onto a gloss base and add a softener, otherwise silvering is a risk. Choose the final varnish according to the character of the scheme; with airliners it tends to be gloss or satin.
