A cockpit accessory from Kits-World for models of the Hawker Hurricane fighter in 1:48 scale. The sheet holds a color-printed instrument panel with a raised relief that is transferred onto the model like a decal. The result is a legible instrument panel with sharp dials, the kind brush painting could never manage in this scale. The set does not replace a kit; it adds to it.
Just as sprayed markings are combined with decal ones on a fuselage, printed and painted detail can be mixed inside the cockpit too. The proven way is to spray the whole interior in one shade, settle the decal on the panel and only then paint in the small things around it: levers, colored control knobs, wear along the edges. That blurs the difference between the paper surface of the decal and the plastic around it. The Hurricane has a roomy and clearly visible cockpit with a tube frame along the sides, so it is worth doing this transition carefully.
Level the surface under the decal and spray it with gloss paint. Cut out the motif, soak it in lukewarm water and let it rest on the paper until it slides off freely. Settle it with a damp brush and blot the surplus water away with a tissue laid on without pressure. Apply the softener drop by drop along the edges, never by drawing a brush across the relief. Once it is dry, go over the surroundings with matte varnish and leave the instrument glazing gloss, or give it depth with a drop of clear varnish.
