Besides its motif, what sets it apart from the other bases in the range is above all its format: it is by far the widest of the whole offering.
The motif is the operational surface of the station with its division and coloring. Take the span of years given in the name as the figure by which you choose a matching model; a kit from another period would look alien on this surface.
A width of 1314 mm is exceptional among the bases. In 1:48 scale it corresponds to roughly 63 meters of real surface, so you can stand several models side by side on the sheet, or one model with a proper clearance to either side. That is a fundamental difference from the square bases: those lead to a close-in view, whereas this format offers a scene in width, as a viewer standing at a display case sees it.
