The set 1:35 MACV SOG Soldier Vietnam 08 offers one printed figure of an American soldier of the Vietnam War, in raw resin and with no paint.
Responsibility details are not available.
The soldiers of this unit went out on a task decidedly anonymous. They wore no identity tags, no patches and no rank insignia, and the serial numbers were removed from their weapons, so that after a possible capture it would not be provable where the man had come from. It is precisely that look that makes the figure a rewarding subject: nothing on it gives away membership of an official army, and its place in a scene therefore depends purely on what you surround it with.
Behind the set stands the French workshop BlackSnake Model. The figure is the work of a high-resolution printer and resin; it is sold one piece at a time, in a raw state, ready for cleaning up and painting. The material holds sharp edges considerably better than soft plastic, which tells above all on the buckles, the straps and the folds of the cloth.
With figures of this scale, damping the contrast is what decides: neither pure white nor black behaves believably on a small area, and a very light gray and a dark brown will serve better. Paint the camouflage pattern with a smaller brush than on a large figure and in fewer layers if anything, so that the engraving of the cloth does not disappear. Before you reach for the brush, let the base cure properly. At the end even the whole thing out with a matte varnish and suggest dust on the boots with pigment.
The set is unassembled and unpainted; you obtain the glue and paints you need separately.
