Responsibility details are not available.
A square printed sheet 450 mm on a side showing the surface of Scampton airfield in the county of Lincolnshire as it looked in the first two decades of this century. The base goes under a model; it is not glued and not assembled.
Most airfield bases aim at the 1940s. This one, by contrast, is listed for the period 2000 to 2021, so it suits models of present-day and recent Royal Air Force machines, whether training, transport or combat. The look of paved surfaces changes over decades of use: repairs, re-marking and traces of maintenance accumulate, and it is exactly this newer appearance that the base captures. It fits a model in a present-day low-visibility paint scheme better than a surface from the Second World War would.
A square of 450 x 450 mm is a practical size both for a display case and for a table when photographing. In 1:72 scale a single-engine machine stands comfortably on it with room left for small things around it. Because the motif is square, the model can be turned to any angle and the best view sought without its running off the surface.
The manufacturer makes more motifs from this station; they differ in scale, sheet size and the variant of surface. Choose by the exact designation and the dimensions given in the name. This is a printed accessory for displaying and photographing a model; the model and the accessories are not included in the package.
