A decal sheet for the A-7E carrier-based attack aircraft in 1:72 scale, devoted to the machines of the American Naval Air Test Center.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A-7E Corsair II is a single-seat subsonic carrier-based attack aircraft of the US Navy. It came about as a carrier of bombs and rockets for strikes on ground targets, so it has a short, stocky fuselage with a large air intake under the nose and carries a row of pylons under the wing. Machines in test service also tended to be more colorful than the combat aircraft of the line squadrons, because they carried bold, contrasting markings for tracking during trials.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for this type, devoted to the machines of the American Naval Air Test Center and to the themed series designated The Final Countdown. Which particular aircraft and which numbers the sheet covers are given in the manufacturer's instructions; they are also what tells you whether the markings suit the kit you have.
Before you soak the sheet, check in the instructions whether it is a self-adhesive version; a soaked self-adhesive film is ruined beyond repair. With an ordinary wet decal, cut the design out together with the edge of the carrier film, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until it begins to move freely. Apply it on a smooth gloss varnish, press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edge, and unify the finished surface with a matte varnish at the end. Across riveted strips and transitions a softener helps, but try it first on a scrap piece of the edge.
The sheet suits modelers who are building the Corsair II in 1:72 scale and want a boldly marked test machine instead of an ordinary combat squadron. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
