The white 2002 Chamonix White shade from Number Five refers to the paint in which the BMW 2002 of the turn of the 1960s and 1970s was sold.
Responsibility details are not available.
The name Chamonix was carried by the white that the Munich brand offered at the time the two-door 2002 was being built. It is not the brightly cool white of today's cars: period white paints tend to have a warmer, slightly creamy shift, which shows on a model mainly next to white decals.
The BMW 2002 belonged to the 02 series, the compact two-door cars built from the middle of the 1960s into the 1970s. The 2002 designation meant a two-liter four-cylinder in a two-door body, and it was this model that made the brand known as a maker of sports sedans. Its sharpest variant was the turbocharged version of the first half of the 1970s, one of the first European production cars with a turbocharger. The cars of the 02 series appeared on circuits and in rallies from the start, where a white body served as a ground under colored stripes and numbers.
It is for modelers who build European civilian cars and want a white with period character instead of a universal pure white. The factory name Chamonix stayed with the Munich brand for many years and was offered on later series as well, not only on the two-door 2002. The name of the shade refers to the factory name of the paint rather than to a number from an international standard, so it is not bound to any standard.
