1:144 Piper L-4 Cub is a Peewit masking set for a tiny model of the liaison aircraft: an accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking set from the Czech manufacturer Peewit in the smallest of the common aviation scales, 1:144. It is not a model but an aid to painting: pre-cut templates cover the glazing of a model, which in this scale is very hard indeed to mask by hand. The Piper L-4, moreover, has glazing that is unusually large in relation to the whole airframe, so every inaccuracy shows in the result.
The Piper L-4 is the military liaison and observation version of the civil light aircraft Piper J-3 Cub. It is a strut-braced high-wing monoplane with a tube frame and fabric covering, two seats one behind the other and extensive cabin glazing, which gave the crew the view they needed to observe the ground. Machines of this type were used during the Second World War above all for artillery spotting, liaison flights and reconnaissance; after the war many of them returned to civil service.
In 1:144 scale work solely with fine-pointed tweezers and under good light. Lift a mask first with the tip of a scalpel, carry it to the part and settle it in place with a toothpick; with fingers a tiny part is almost always deformed. Spray the paint heavily thinned and in several passes, because in this scale a heavy coat visually thickens the frames. It pays to glue the glazing on only after spraying, ideally with a clear adhesive for canopies, which will not cloud the clear area.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
