A detail set from the Basic Line range by the firm HGW for models of the Hawker Tempest fighter in 1:48 scale. The Basic Line range brings together the two most useful accessories, fabric seat belts and painting masks. It is not an airplane kit but an accessory for raising the realism of a model.
Thanks to the cloth material and the photo-etched buckles, fabric belts look far more realistic than plastic or purely photo-etched belts and come into their own in an open cockpit. The masks ensure a clean and quick spraying of the canopy frames with no laborious masking by hand.
The belts are pliable, can be folded and shaped into a realistic sag; they are assembled with the photo-etched buckles and glued with a small drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Transfer the masks onto a clean canopy, press them down and spray with an airbrush in thin coats.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
