Black Dog 1:48 S-2 Tracker bomb bay and radar is a resin detail set that replaces the blanked-off bomb bay and the simplified radar housing on a plastic model of the Tracker with finely cast parts.

This is not an airplane kit but an accessory to a plastic model of the Grumman S-2 Tracker in 1:48 scale that you have already bought. The manufacturer Black Dog casts the parts from resin, which carries substantially finer detail than injected plastic. The space of the bomb bay with its internal structure, the inner sides of the doors and the separately shaped radar are exactly the places where a production mold usually settles for a smooth area or for a part cast into a single piece.
On the Tracker the bomb bay was a working part of the aircraft, and open it turns an otherwise closed fuselage into the place the viewer looks at first. The radar under the rear part of the fuselage was retractable on this carrier-borne anti-submarine machine, so a model with the housing extended and faithfully shaped looks quite different from a model with a smooth underside. The set therefore does not answer the shape of the aircraft as a whole but two particular areas where a plastic mold runs into its technological limits.
First separate the parts from the casting blocks with a saw or a cutter, and never break them off. Then wash them in warm water with a detergent so that the release agent from the mold disappears: without that neither the paint nor the glue will hold. The opening of the bomb bay as a rule has to be cut into the plastic fuselage, so trace the position first and take the material away in small steps, preferably in several goes. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally the thicker gel kind, which leaves a moment for setting the part straight. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. Paint the inside of the bomb bay, emphasize it with a dark wash and a dry brush still before you close the fuselage up.
This is an accessory set, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
