A resin set of four pieces of the R-77 / AA-12 Adder guided missile in 1:48 scale from GasPatch models. A replacement for the simplified missiles from the box, mainly because of the grid fins.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory set of external stores for aircraft models in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of an aircraft but the missiles on their own: according to the name the package contains four pieces of the R-77 guided missile, in the NATO reporting name AA-12 Adder. The set serves as a replacement for the corresponding parts from the base kit.
The hallmark of the R-77 is its grid fins. Injected plastic copes with them only by a compromise: either the mold makes them needlessly thick, or it replaces them with a flat part with suggested engraving. In 1:48 scale, where four missiles are usually visible at once under the wing, this compromise adds up and needlessly brings down the impression of an otherwise well built model. A separately made resin part allows a finer rendering of the lattice as well as a cleaner shape of the body of the missile and of the leading edges. Four pieces in one package will moreover cover a typical arrangement of stores, so one set will do.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent because of the remains of the release agent. Separate them from the carrying block with a fine saw, not by breaking, because the grid surfaces are fragile. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue; the gel variant gives more time for setting the missile true to the axis. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. For the painting a light base helps, then a covering shade on it and finally a fine dark wash in the lattice, which will emphasize the structure. Close the whole thing with a semi-gloss varnish.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted, and glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
