A wicker seat belongs to the equipment of older aircraft, where low weight was the main concern. A woven back was lighter than a solid board and at the same time strong enough, and the perforation in the back part reduced the weight further. The top edge of the back was covered by a leather pad, which the pilot leaned his head and back against; it is precisely its size that tells the two forms in this set apart. The woven structure is immediately visible in a cockpit and is among the most conspicuous elements of the interior.

The weave of the back as well as of the cushion is rendered with a three-dimensional relief, so it is enough to color it and emphasize it. The parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down carefully, so that you do not damage the fine weave. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. Paint the wicker in a light ocher tone, then let a darker glaze run into the recesses and go lightly over the edges of the weave with a dry brush in a lighter shade, which will bring the structure out. Tell the leather pad apart with a brown tone with a fine sheen. The particular procedure for preparing the parts is stated by the manufacturer's instructions.
