A set of masking shapes from the SX-Art brand prepared for a model of the dump truck designated K-65115 in 1:35. It is not a kit, nor parts of a model, but an add-on for painting: precisely cut masks take the place of slow taping and cutting with a knife. Which particular surfaces the set masks is stated on the box.
The 65115 designation belongs to a heavy three-axle dump truck in a 6x4 arrangement from Russian production, used in construction as well as in army service. Against combat equipment a civilian truck has a completely different logic of painting: large cab glazing, a dump body often in a different shade from the cab, pronounced bumpers, frames and rims, and plenty of small dividing edges between the colored areas.
On a truck it is above all the cab glazing and the boundary between the cab and the body that get masked. Work from the lighter color to the darker one, lay the mask on a perfectly dry coat and press the edges down with a toothpick, so that paint does not run underneath. Spray thinly and in two passes; one heavy layer makes a step at the edge. Take the mask off at an angle to the side while the paint is freshly dry. Restrained weathering works well at the end: dust on the underside of the frame, wear on the edges of the body and grimy cab windows give the vehicle a working look.
The set is not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
