1:35 Imitation of viewing devices танка 90 transparent (Meng)

What the set offers

These are clear imitations of the viewing devices of the T-90 tank in 1:35 scale, cut for the kit from Meng. Transparency is the point here: it is exactly what sets a fitted vision block apart from a plastic part painted over. Light refracts in a clear element, so the device has depth and changes shade with the angle of view, just as on the real vehicle. How many elements the package contains and which positions they belong to is given by the manufacturer's instructions.

The real subject

The T-90 is a Russian main battle tank that follows on from the older Soviet series and is among the most widespread types of its class. The turret and the hull carry a whole range of viewing devices and their covers, so on a model this is a prominent detail and not work on a single part.

Building and painting tips

• remove the original plastic part and level the seat, so that the element sits flush
• glue with an adhesive made for clear parts, as the fumes of super glue will fog the surface
• protect the clear surfaces from sanding, as scratches will never come out of them
• fit the elements after the vehicle has been sprayed and weathered, not before
• weather the surroundings of the vision block more strongly than the optics themselves, which get wiped on a real vehicle

Who it is for

For modelers who want to finish exactly those areas of a modern tank that the eye catches first. The work is small, it does without touching the build itself, and it suits even a model you have already finished and want to lift a level higher.

Terms of supply

The set of imitations is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
