A set of masking templates for models of the T-90 tank and the GAZ Tiger all-terrain car in 1:48. The masks are stuck onto the surfaces that are to stay free of paint after spraying, that is above all onto the glazing, the optics and the headlights. It is not a kit; the models are bought separately.
It is the combination that is interesting. A tank and a light all-terrain car look completely different on a table in one scale: the T-90 has small vision blocks scattered over a large body, while the Tiger has broad window glass and a windshield that makes up a substantial part of its silhouette. One set thus contains items in two very different sizes, and that shows while you work. On the tank it is about the exact placing of tiny faces, on the car rather about making sure that a large mask does not let paint under it anywhere and that the edge stays sharp.
In 1:48 both vehicles are noticeably smaller than armor is usually built in 1:35, so even the large windshield of a car is still only a small area and cutting by hand does not pay. With tank vision blocks the difference is sharper still: what can be masked with a scrap of tape in 1:35 is here on the edge of what a knife can hit. That is exactly where a finished template brings the most.
For the modeler who builds modern Russian equipment in the less usual 1:48 scale and wants the glazing and the optics handled without cutting by hand.
This is an add-on to plastic models. The kits, paints and glue are not included in the package.
