A masking set in 1:48 for a model of the Yak-9D fighter, drawn for the kit from the Zvezda company.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yak-9 was among the most numerous Soviet fighters of the Second World War. The version marked with the letter D is the long-range one: it received a larger fuel load in the wing and with it a substantially longer range, so it could escort attack and bomber aircraft deeper beyond the front. From the outside it differs little from the basic version, which makes it matter all the more that the details and the exact boundaries of the finish are right on a model.
This is a set of pre-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:48. According to the name it is drawn for the kit from the Zvezda company, so the cutouts match the shapes of the parts of that kit and need not fit a model from another maker. Which surfaces the set covers and in what order the masks are stuck on is given in the manufacturer's instructions supplied. Masking pays off above all on the cockpit glazing, where tracing the frames by hand with a brush takes more time and the edges tend to come out uneven.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, not once the paint has dried. Clear the base of dust and grease first, or a mask will not adhere all the way around. Seat an item with tweezers exactly in place and press the edges down firmly, so that paint does not run underneath. Spray in thin coats and preferably in two passes; a heavy layer makes a step at the edge of the mask that shows once it comes off. Take the mask off as soon as the paint is dry to the touch, and pull it back at an angle at a low angle.
The masking set alone is supplied. The kit and the paints are not included, unless stated otherwise.
