A multi-figure set of American tankers in cast resin in 1:35, from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. The word set in the name means that the package brings several figures together; in the same line the manufacturer also lists individual tankers under sequence numbers. It is not a vehicle kit but an add-on to a finished model and the basis of a vignette. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The figures are cast in parts: the torso with the clothing, the head, the arms and the small items of equipment separately. The breakdown lets the mold capture the folds of the cloth, the collars, the straps and harness and the undercuts, which would be lost on a one-piece casting. Each part is held on a casting block, and the mold seam lines are carried along the sides of the figure and along the inner side of the limbs, where later sanding is best hidden. The pockets, the buckles and the buttons are raised, so they only need picking out with paint.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw away from the detail, sand the faces down and protect your airways while sanding resin. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate); cement for polystyrene will not make a joint here. After a thin primer, start with the skin: a middle tone, a darker glaze into the folds, lighter strokes on the raised places. Paint the uniform from the base shade, support the recesses with a dark wash and lighten the edges of the folds. Make the leather parts darker than the cloth and leave them a fine satin. With a set, unity is the key thing: mix the base shade of the uniform up for all the figures at once and paint them in parallel, or the tones will drift apart. Finally bring the surface together with a matte clear coat.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
