German Fallschirmjäger, the Oder Front No. 1 line, 1:35, PANZER ART

A resin figure in 1:35 from the figure line of the maker PANZER ART. The marking Oder Front is the name of the series and No. 1 states the order of the figure within it — in the same series the manufacturer also lists another pose and a multi-figure set. The figure is meant for dioramas and vignettes.

Execution and material

For modeling resin, paratrooper equipment is a rewarding subject: it holds the broken-up cut of the smock, the belts, the pouches and the texture of the camouflage cloth. The casting is supplied on casting blocks and with mold seam lines that are cleaned up before building.

Building and painting tips

Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap, so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the face with a file and sand the resin wet with protection for your breathing. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and fill the seams with filler. Take the camouflage pattern as a painting task: first an overall base shade, then the patches applied from the top down from the largest to the smallest, with the tip of a thin brush and always with regard to the fact that the pattern has to break over the folds. Then knock the contrast down with a thinned filter, so that the patches do not look like a sticker. Deepen the folds with a wash and bring the edges out with a dry brush. A matte clear coat at the end, the leather parts slightly glossy.
