A turned barrel with a mantlet part for the Jagdpanther in the mid form, 1:35 scale. A replacement for the split kit barrel.
Responsibility details are not available.
On a tank destroyer the barrel is the longest and most prominent part and the eye catches every inaccuracy on it. From the kit it tends to be made of two halves, so a joint remains along its whole length that has to be filled and sanded, and the round section is easily lost in the process. A turned barrel is made in one piece, is even along its whole length and has no joint. The set is meant for the Jagdpanther in 1:35 scale and also holds a mantlet part in the mid form, that is in the variant matching the middle part of production.
Cut the original kit parts away and level the mating surfaces. Try the barrel and the mantlet dry first: watch that the barrel points parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and that it does not droop once fitted. A metal barrel is heavier than a plastic one, so seat it in the glue and let it dry horizontally, ideally with the muzzle supported. Metal is glued with super glue; degrease the surface beforehand.
Metal is smooth and paint holds on it worse than on plastic. It therefore pays to degrease the surface and use a primer suitable for metals; without it the coat rubs off during handling, right on the edges of the muzzle. Paint it apart from the hull and fit the barrel only when finished, otherwise you will not get a brush to the underside of the mantlet.
The vehicle model, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
