IJN Battleship Mutsu Full Hull 1:700 is a plastic kit of the Japanese battleship with a complete hull including the underwater part, from the manufacturer Fujimi.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fujimi has rendered the famous Japanese battleship in a full hull version. The Full Hull designation means that the box also holds the underwater hull, so the model can stand on a cradle as a complete ship and is not tied to a modeled sea surface. The 1:700 scale is the most widespread one for large surface units and keeps the model to a reasonable size even with a ship as long as this one.
Mutsu and her sister ship were among the first Japanese battleships armed with 41 cm guns. After completion in the early 1920s she was long a symbol of naval power and went through several rebuilds that markedly changed both the funnel and the layout of the superstructures. One characteristic feature remained, the massive mast built up from connected girders, which became a recognition mark of Japanese battleships of that period.
Test-fit the joint between the upper and lower hull sections dry first, because on full hull models this is where a gap for filler appears most often. The wooden deck areas come out best when you spray them in a lighter shade and only then pick out the planking lines with a thin wash. Paint the small guns and boats on the sprue and save yourself handling them. A model set on two supports looks better than one laid flat.
The package contains unassembled and unpainted parts. Glue and paints are not in it, unless stated otherwise.
