StuG III assault guns of the G version carried an angular welded barrel mantlet at first, and only later was it replaced on part of the production by the rounded Topfblende. This set captures the welded version, together with the barrel of the 7.5 cm gun in the L/48 length. The number after the slash gives the barrel length in calibers, not the caliber. The muzzle brake is in the single-baffle form, that is with a single pair of side ports.
A replacement barrel with the mantlet in 1:35 scale for a kit of the assault gun. The barrel is turned: it has no lengthwise joint of the kind that has to be filled and sanded down on a split plastic barrel, and the muzzle is drilled, so there is no blind hole showing on it. The exact number of parts and the target kit are given in the enclosed instructions.
Try the part dry first and carefully widen the opening in the front wall of the superstructure if needed. It is bonded with super glue; cement for polystyrene will not take here. Wash, degrease and apply an undercoat before painting, otherwise the top layer will not hold on the smooth surface. Compare the type of muzzle brake with photographs of the particular vehicle, because the range also offers further forms.
