Voyager Model 1:35 deep wading trunks for the Cromwell and Centaur add landing equipment to a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. The set holds photo-etched metal parts of the deep wading trunks, that is the chimney-like extensions fitted to the intake and the exhaust so that a vehicle could drive off a landing craft into shallow water. It is made for models of the British Cromwell Mk. IV tank and its support version the Centaur and is cut for particular kits, which have to be bought separately. It is a detail that tells a story on a model: a tank with trunks is a vehicle from the first wave of a landing.
At the Normandy landings vehicles had to leave their craft while still at sea and drive through the shallows. Water would have flooded the engine compartment, so tall sheet-metal chimneys were fitted to the intake and the exhaust and were thrown off once the vehicle reached the beach. That is exactly why tanks from the first hours of the landings are unmistakable in period photographs, and on a model this detail places a scene in June 1944 at once.
The set is intended for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
