A resin set of road wheels for a model of the American M4 Sherman medium tank in 1:35 scale, in pattern number three. It is not a kit of the vehicle but castings meant to be swapped for the wheels from a plastic kit. The manufacturer offers Sherman wheels in a numbered range of several patterns; wheels for the horizontal spring suspension form a separate set, so base your choice on the suspension of your machine.
On the Sherman the running gear is the part of a model the eye cannot avoid — and the pattern of the discs belongs to it as much as the type of track or the number of bogies. Real vehicles often carried wheels of different forms together, because they were topped up as available during repairs. The numbered sets are therefore not just extra variations: they allow a running gear to be put together as it looked in a particular photograph, instead of leaving the model with the uniform form from the box.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry, as otherwise the paint will not hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the mating surfaces on abrasive paper laid on a flat board; sand wet and with your airways protected. It is glued with super glue, and the fit should be tried dry beforehand with the track as well. Paint the tires dark gray with a cast of brown rather than pure black, keep the discs in the shade of the vehicle and draw the transition between them with a thin dark line. Bring out the holes and hollows with a wash, suggest the bearing faces with rubbed dark metallic pigment, and unify the whole running gear at the end with dust or mud to match the setting in which you place the model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and neither the model of the tank nor the tracks are part of the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
