1:35 M4A1 big hatch hull with cast additional armor is a resin accessory from PANZER ART. It replaces the hull of the base Sherman kit in 1:35 scale and is not a model of the tank in its own right.

This is a resin accessory to a model, not a complete kit. The set renders the cast hull of the M4A1 Sherman tank in the late form with large driver's hatches and with cast additional armor, in 1:35 scale. It is used as a replacement for the hull from the base plastic kit. The maker PANZER ART is a Polish brand focused on cast accessories for armored vehicles. On cast hulls resin has the advantage: the texture of a casting and its irregular transitions can be rendered in a mold more faithfully than in injection molded plastic.
The M4A1 differed from the other Sherman versions by its one-piece cast hull with characteristic rounded shapes. In later batches it was given wider hatches for the driver and the bow gunner, which among modelers came to be called the big hatch. In places with thinner armor, typically in front of the crew positions and at the access to the ammunition, some vehicles received cast or welded reinforcing plates. The combination of both features identifies a fairly narrow group of vehicles, which makes the hull the key part for a faithful build of a particular variant.
Wash the part in warm water with dish soap before the build. On a large part, cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface on abrasive paper laid on a flat base, so that the hull seats on the chassis. Protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with super glue, and on larger faces a glue with a longer setting time helps. Before painting, check the seating of the turret and the running gear dry. Start the painting with a primer, then bring out the cast texture with fine differences of shade, add a wash in the welds and hatches and dust the bottom of the hull with pigments.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
