1:144 C-130K W2 Snoopy is a plastic kit of the British Hercules in the W2 weather-research conversion in 1:144 scale from Sova Model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit in 1:144 scale captures the British Hercules in the utterly unmistakable W2 weather-research conversion. It is a small model of a large aircraft, so it will fit into a display case even where a four-engine transport in a larger scale would stand no chance. Sova Model has long focused on transport and special-purpose machines that the big makers leave out.
The designation C-130K is carried by the Hercules delivered to the Royal Air Force; four Allison T56 turboprop engines provide the power. A single machine was converted into a flying meteorological laboratory, the W.Mk 2, and received a long instrument nose, on account of which crews began to call it Snoopy. In this form it flew research tasks, measurements in cloud and trials of instrument equipment for decades. The nose installation is the main difference from an ordinary transport Hercules and makes this machine one of the most characteristic examples of the whole family.
In 1:144 scale the cleanness of the surface and the evenness of the seams decide, because on a small area every irregularity shows. The long nose is heavy, so consider weight in the front before closing the fuselage, or the model will sit on its tail. Mask the cockpit glazing and spray it only at the end. Fine sanding sponges are enough for the parting lines; the engraving is shallow at this scale and coarse paper will easily erase it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
