This is a resin accessory to a model, not a kit of the tank. The set renders the turret of the Soviet BT-7 fast tank fitted with additional armor in the form that was made at the Odessa dockyard, in 1:35 scale. It replaces the matching part of the base plastic kit. The maker PANZER ART is a Polish brand focused on cast accessories for armored vehicles. The casting renders the rough welds and the irregularly welded plates in a way that is hard to imitate in plastic from a mold.
The BT-7 was a Soviet fast wheel-cum-track tank of the 1930s with thin armor that was inadequate in the later period of its service. Improvised strengthening of the armor by welding further plates on belonged among the typical solutions of local workshops and shipyards, where both steel and welders were available. Vehicles modified in this way differed from one example to the next, the outline of the turret is more angular and the surface far more broken up than in production condition. For a modeler it is a rewarding and easily recognizable theme.
Wash the casting in warm water with dish soap, cut the casting block off with a fine saw and level the mating surface on abrasive paper on a flat base, so that the turret seats properly in the turret ring. Protect your breathing while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Check the turret traverse dry before painting. On painting: a primer, a Soviet green in a shade suitable for the period, a wash in the welds, the edges brought out with a dry brush and scuffing in the exposed places. The welded plates are worth setting apart in a slightly different color, so that it is clear they are an added modification.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
