Armed Forces F-16D Fighting Falcon

F-16D Fighting Falcon - a COBI brick kit

A clip-together kit of plastic bricks and shaped parts. It is built by joining parts that click into each other with no tools and without any chemicals; the system is compatible with common brick kits. The color areas and the markings are printed directly on the parts, so once it is built the model calls for no further work and can be displayed straight away. The kit belongs to the Armed Forces military range of the Polish brand COBI.

The real subject

The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a light single-engine multirole aircraft that made its name thanks to a combination of low weight, high agility and relatively affordable operation. Among the key design features are a bubble canopy with a view in practically every direction, fly-by-wire controls with no mechanical linkage between the sticks and the surfaces, a sidestick placed to the right of the seat and a seat reclined backward for better tolerance of g loads. The D version is the two-seat variant with a tandem cockpit: it serves for training, but it keeps the combat capabilities of the single-seat variant, so it is used for tasks where a second crew member is an advantage as well.

Building and display

Sort the parts out beforehand and work in sections - fuselage, wings, tail surfaces, landing gear. The joints hold firmly, so the model stands up to handling and carrying about without falling apart. Build on a flat surface, so that the aircraft stands evenly on its landing gear. The finished model is displayed with no further work of any kind, and a soft brush for the dust takes care of its upkeep.
