Historical Collection Cold War MiG-17 Fresco is a clip-together brick kit from the Polish manufacturer COBI. The parts join into each other according to the instructions, and the finished model of the jet fighter aircraft is ready to be displayed as soon as it is completed.

The set falls into the Historical Collection range, specifically into the part devoted to the Cold War. It is not a classic plastic model: the parts fit into each other by a clip system, hold mechanically, and the model grows directly during the build according to the enclosed instructions. The colors come from the finish of the individual parts and from the printing that the manufacturer applies directly on them, so once it is completed nothing more is finished off on the model.
The MiG-17 was a Soviet single-seat subsonic jet fighter aircraft that took off at the beginning of the 1950s as a thoroughly reworked successor to the MiG-15 type. It was given a new, thinner and more markedly swept wing with several sweep angles, a lengthened rear part of the fuselage and modified tail surfaces, which noticeably improved its behavior at high speeds. The armament consisted of cannon in the nose, that is weapons effective in a maneuvering fight at short range. In the NATO code designation it carried the name Fresco. It was built in large series, under license outside the Soviet Union as well, and served in dozens of countries long after the end of its front-line career.
With aircraft the fuselage is put together section by section - push each section fully home before you go on to the next, as otherwise the outlines of the transition to the tail surfaces will not meet. Fit the wings and the stabilizers fully home, so that the dihedral sits right and the model stands in line. The finished kit is solid enough for ordinary carrying about, but display it on a flat surface or in a display case out of reach of direct sun all the same. Wipe the dust off with a soft brush, do not scrub the printed features and do not use solvents.
The kit is supplied unassembled. Once completed according to the instructions the model is finished and calls for no further work.
