A resin correction set in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It is not a kit of the vehicle but a set of parts for converting a plastic model into the Panzerbefehlswagen III Ausf. K command tank in the version on the late chassis of the Panzer III Ausf. L. It differs from the sister variant precisely in the treatment of the hull, so before buying it is worth working out which particular vehicle you want to build.
The Panzerbefehlswagen III Ausf. K came about at the turn of 1942 and 1943 as the command version of the Panzer III tank. The older command tanks had a dummy in place of the gun, because radio equipment took up the space inside; the K version, by contrast, received a large turret with a combat-capable 5 cm gun and so kept its firepower. Only a few dozen vehicles were built. They were put together on the chassis of production versions of the Panzer III, which changed in the course of manufacture - the late hull of the L version treats a whole range of details differently from the early machines.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap to rid them of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and dress the surfaces with a file; do the sanding wet or with respiratory protection. It is glued with super glue, ordinary cement for plastic will not bond resin. Before you start cutting into the plastic model, assemble the parts dry and mark the exact lines of the cut in pencil - with a correction set this is the most important step of the whole build. A primer before painting unifies the surface of the resin and the plastic and prevents a difference in shade.
The set is an accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
