A plastic kit of the early fighter version of the Supermarine Spitfire in 1:72 scale in the markings of the Royal Air Force. The model comes from Kovozavody Prostejov, a Czech manufacturer from Prostejov. The kit is injection-molded plastic and is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Spitfire Mk.II followed on from the first production version of the type and brought above all a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin XII engine and starting by cartridge starter, which you can recognize by a small bulged fairing on the left side of the engine section. It was built in a large series at a newly built factory intended specifically for Spitfires and reached the squadrons from the second half of 1940. The letter a in the designation means the wing with machine gun armament, eight machine guns of 7.7 mm, as opposed to the version with cannons. The Mk.II was a typical machine of British fighter squadrons at the turn of 1940 and 1941, when the weight of operations was shifting from air defense to offensive flights over the English Channel.
The basis is to clean up the parting lines carefully and to bond with a thin liquid cement, which draws into the seam and does not clog the fine detail. Build and paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage up, as you will not get into it afterward. Mask the glazing, ideally with a self-adhesive mask or with narrow strips of masking tape. The two-color upper camouflage can be sprayed with a soft transition over a temporary mask of modeling putty lifted a little above the surface, or with a sharper boundary according to the practice of the day. Settle the decals on a gloss base with a softener, even the surface out with a matte varnish and suggest the exhaust stains only in a restrained way.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
