Kabuki paper is a rewarding material for masking glazing: it is thin, it holds its shape and after removal it leaves no adhesive on a clear part. The set brings pre-cut pieces shaped according to the glazing of the model, so they are simply lifted out of the sheet and laid in place. Cutting tape by hand falls away, and with it the irregularities it tends to end in.

What the BASIC extent means

The range the set belongs to is supplied in several extents, and the word BASIC in the name denotes the basic one. Alongside it the manufacturer also issues sets designated ADVANCED and EXPERT for a number of other machines, which tend to be more comprehensive. Which particular parts of the model are covered in this package is given in the manufacturer's instructions, and that is why it pays to look into them before building the cockpit.

Usage tips

• wash the clear part before masking and let it dry completely, as a mask will not hold on grease
• lift the piece out with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and lay it in place according to the shape of the frame
• press the edges down with a toothpick, so that the paint does not run under them
• the masks are applied before spraying, not after the paint has dried
• apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy layer breaks off at the edge of the frame when the mask is removed
• once dry, take the masks off slowly and at an angle, not straight upward
