A resin accessory in 1:144 scale from Rise144models. It represents the auxiliary fuel tank hung under the fuselage of the Dassault Mirage F1. It is not a kit of an aircraft: the set adds to a finished model a store that ordinary kits in this scale often simplify or do not have at all.
The Mirage F1 was a French single-engine fighter with a conventional swept wing, with which Dassault returned from tailless deltas to a layout with a horizontal tail. It served in the fighter, strike and reconnaissance roles with a number of countries, and its typical silhouette in photographs is precisely the large tank under the fuselage, without which ferry flights and longer missions were not possible. On a model this store changes the overall impression fundamentally: an aircraft with a centerline tank looks like a machine ready for a long haul, while a clean underside looks like a fighter on standby.
The tank is a fairly large part among the accessories, and all the more reason for clean work on it. Cut it from the casting block by drawing a sharp blade and level the remainder with fine sandpaper and a minimum of pressure, so that the smooth shape is preserved. Tanks tend to be cast with a parting line, so run over any seam lengthwise along the axis of the part, never across it. After washing off the mold release agent and drying, apply a primer, which will at the same time show up any small surface flaws. It is bonded with super glue around the circumference of the mating surface. Painting: the tank often has the same shade as the underside of the aircraft, but a discreet difference of tone suits it, so that once hung under the fuselage it does not merge into a uniform area.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
