A set of small resin parts that add to a model of the British vertical takeoff aircraft Harrier II the aerodynamic deflectors that direct the airflow. It is intended for the GR.5, GR.7 and GR.9 versions. The package contains neither the aircraft nor any part of it, as it is solely an accessory to an already built kit. In 1:144 scale these are exceptionally small castings, and their thinness is precisely what a cast resin part allows and injected plastic does not.
The Harrier II in the GR.5, GR.7 and GR.9 versions was the British counterpart of the American AV-8B and represented the second generation of the vertical takeoff attack aircraft. It is precisely on machines capable of vertical takeoff and landing that control of the airflow around the lower part of the fuselage plays an essential role, because it affects the behavior of the aircraft while hovering above the ground. The individual versions differ above all in the equipment for night operations and in the avionics fitted, but the external aerodynamic elements stay similar, which makes it possible to cover all three with a single set.
This is the most delicate work of the whole category. Cut the parts from the casting block with a very sharp new knife or the finest saw, hold them with tweezers and work over a light surface. Do not skimp on washing in lukewarm soapy water before gluing, as on thin surfaces any remaining mold release agent shows at once. They are bonded with super glue, best of all a thicker gel applied with a pin so that it does not run. Sanding is practically impossible, so count on that and cut accurately. Before painting a very thin primer is enough, as a heavy coat would drown the detail. The shade follows the camouflage of the particular machine.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit of the aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
