An injection-molded plastic kit of the classic Soviet biplane in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Smer. The kit comes from an older, proven mold and brings decals for both Soviet and Finnish (captured) aircraft. A stand for displaying the model in flight is usually included. It is a simpler kit suited to modelers with a little experience.
The Polikarpov Po-2 (originally the U-2) was one of the most widely built and longest produced aircraft in history. This undemanding biplane served as a trainer, liaison, ambulance and agricultural machine, and made its name as a night harassment bomber, flown among others by the famous all-female crews. Its slow flight and its ability to operate from small fields made it exceptionally versatile.
With an older mold, clean up the parts first and dry-fit them. The most demanding job is assembling and bracing the upper wing with its struts; a jig and a strong glue will help. Bracing wires made of fine thread give the biplane its realism. Prime the surface before painting and finish it with an airbrush or a brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
