An injection-molded plastic kit of the Ford Fairlane of the 1965 model year in Modified form, that is converted for American oval racing. The model in 1:25 scale is released by the AMT brand. The parts are on injection-molded sprues, and the model is built and painted with ordinary modeling methods.
The Fairlane was a mid-size car offered by Ford that became a popular basis for amateur and semi-professional racing in the mid-1960s. The category of the so-called Modified cars built on a production body, under which, however, a reinforced frame, a roll cage in the cabin, a modified suspension and a powerful V8 were hidden. The cars ran on short ovals, often on a dirt surface, and their appearance was governed by practicality rather than elegance: lightened bodies, bold starting numbers, simple sponsor lettering and visible traces of contact with rivals.
A racing version gives you more freedom than a production car. The body does not have to be taken to a mirror gloss; on the contrary, it suits slight wear. Build and paint the roll cage and the inside of the cabin before you close the body up, because afterwards you will not reach them. Lay the starting numbers and the lettering onto a gloss base and, once dry, unify them with a semi-matte varnish. A discreet weathering finish works well at the end: a layer of dust on the fenders, a dark wash around the panels and fine chipping on the edges of the body.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
