The real subject

The Churchill is a British infantry tank, that is a machine designed to accompany infantry rather than for a rapid advance. Heavy armor, a low speed and a conspicuous outline with tracks led along the whole length of the hull and up over its upper edge all match that. It was precisely this layout with its many small road wheels that gave the vehicle excellent climbing ability in broken ground. The Mk III version differs from the earlier ones in its welded turret with a 6-pounder gun, which markedly increased the anti-armor effect over the original armament.
